How to

How can you go wrong with this little twist on a classic Old Fashioned?!

Even if you´re not usually a fan of this traditional cocktail- I urge you to give this recipe a chance. Plus there’s no shaking involved, so it’s easy peasy! If you´re not the biggest fan of whiskey or bourbon, an aged rum would also work perfectly.

Simply dip both sides of a wheel of orange in a plate of granulated sugar. If you have a small torch at home you can scorch the orange wheel on both sides to the degree of toasted that you would prefer, but you want to make sure that you brulee or caramelize most of the sugar.

If you do not own a torch- no panic! This can easily be done in a dry, non-stick pan over medium heat for 3-4 minutes or until browned on both sides just how you like it.

In a stir cup or half a shaker pour in your whiskey, ginger liqueur, bitters, orange juice, and ice. ( If you are using fresh ginger, place it first in your shaker to muddle).

Give everything a nice stir with a long spoon and strain over a big ice cube or several ice cubes into your glass. Garnish with your charred orange wheel and allow sugar and zest to seep into the drink.

Sit back, relax and enjoy!
